Frankfurt

Dr. Michael Bausch

The institute is led by Dr. Michael Bausch MD, PhD, who was until May 2013 medical director of the German Center for Fresh Cell Therapy in Lenggries in Upper Bavaria. In addition to decades of experience in the field of cell therapy, Dr. Bausch has a profound experience in cancer research, in preventive medicine and anti-aging. His special interest today is to use the cell therapy in combination with modern medical therapy to combat aging symptoms as well as to repair health damages.

During the past 20 years, Dr. Bausch gained extensive experience in the research field of biotechnology. Particularly in oncology, he was very active in the development of pharmaceuticals for many years. In cooperation with various biotechnology companies and also a research group from the prestigious Sloan-Kettering Institute in New York, Dr. Bausch founded the Medical Enzymes AG Berlin, and put in the groundwork for the development of a new cancer drug (GlutaDON) 1990-2010.

As CEO (2003-2010) and founder of Medical Enzymes AG (1990), he built an extensive national and international network of University Clinics (e.g. University of Freiburg, Clinic for Tumor Biology Professor. Dr. C. Unger, KHS Frankfurt-West, Prof. Dr. S. Albatran, University of Frankfurt, University of Tuebingen, Charitee in Berlin, HSK-Kliniken Wiesbaden, University of Cracow in Poland, University Columbia S.C. in USA, Prof. Dr. Joseph Roberts) and laboratories for further development of pharmaceuticals for the treatment of oncological diseases. With his own medical device companies (Medical Enzymes AG Berlin, Cavira Biopharmaceuticals AG Potsdam, MD Health Management GmbH Frankfurt) Dr. Bausch was dedicated to cellular health and disease prevention. In this context he also dealt with the topic of cellular aging, anti-aging medicine and the fresh cell therapy.

As the head physician of the Europe’s largest clinic for TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) in Marbella (1990- 1999), Southern Spain, Dr. Bausch practiced the combination of western medicine, alternative therapies methods and TCM. As president of the Anti-Aging-Academy Munich (2001-2003), he was also responsible for the training of doctors in the preventive medicine and Anti-Aging.

Having been trained in Biochemistry at the University in Tuebingen and trained as a physician at the University in Heidelberg (where he met Prof. Landsberger as his anatomy class teacher), he was beside the responsible treatment of his patients, always interested in root cause analysis of diseases. In the early 80′s he made as a general physician his first convincing experience in his own clinic, treating chronic diseases of his patients with embryonic sheep cells. Later he moved his focus to cell therapy for regeneration and anti-aging.

With his own medical technology companies (Medical Enzymes AG Berlin, Cavira Biopharmaceuticals AG Potsdam, MD Health Management GmbH Frankfurt) Dr. Bausch was dedicated to research on cell metabolism to understand and to prevent diseases. Hence his main interest always remained to find out more about the background of the mode of action of the cell therapy.

It is the vision of Dr. Bausch now to let his patients benefit from all of his experience in research, diagnostics and treatment, in his Institute for Regenerative Medicine with the Cell-Vitalis concept. Dr. Bausch is the actual Cell-Vitalis Chief Medical Officer, responsible for the cell implants with our patients.

About Us
History

A Short History of the Cell Therapy

Prof. Paul Niehans

Cell therapy is a biological treatment method that results in the revitalisation and true regeneration of organs through the administration of foetal animal cells.

In the year 1912, the French Nobel laureate Alexis Carrel first noted that cultures of ageing cells are stimulated to increased growth by the addition of embryonic tissue.

The Swiss doctor Paul Niehans, a grandson of German Emperor Frederick III, completed a large number of gland transplants after 1918 which achieved positive treatment results for a brief period limited to several months. Then on April 1, 1931 chance brought a scientific breakthrough.

On that day a patient was referred to him with severe post-operative tetany resulting from the mistaken resection of the parathyroid in moribund condition.

In this situation, a transplantation of the gland was not possible. He immediately used some material of parathyroid glands derived from animals in the smallest form, added some sodium chloride solution and injected both in the great thoracic muscle. The patient was healed and the monitoring proved that she had no more spasms for the following 25 years.

With this epochal and groundbreaking discovery, Professor Niehans established a previously unknown therapy method by applying a biological principle: Regeneration using cells from juvenile donor animals.

This biological treatment method was subsequently developed further by Professor Niehans and his students, so that safe application is ensured and optimum treatment results can now be achieved for many chronic disorders, wear symptoms and dysfunctions.

Cell therapy has helped many personalities achieve new health and vitality, including Charlie Chaplin, Pablo Picasso, Sophia Loren, Pope Pius XII and more such as Emperor Hirohito, Emperor Haile Selassi, King Ibn Saud, Konrad Adenauer and many more. All of them have been treated with cell therapy. What was once only a therapy for a handful of well-to-do-people is now within the reach of everyone. In the last 30 years a total of over 15 million people have undergone cell therapy treatment.

In his time, Federal Minister of Health Seehofer attempted to prohibit the therapy method because of pressure from mainstream medicine. But based on decades of positive results and good treatment outcomes, cell therapy has continued to assert itself with great success.

The desire to remain young and vital is as old as humanity itself. Cell therapy developed over more than 80 years based on experience and triggered by the desire to preserve and restore human vitality and performance.

To guarantee the success of CELL-VITALIS-TREATMENT its crucial to have a follow up with the patient. The patient can feel free to contact the CELL-VITALIS physicians to report about their condition and to get free advise how to proceed at any time.

Cell-Vitalis Procedure

Cell therapy works on the principle of ‘like for like’. To revitalize lung, we use lung cells. To regenerate heart, heart cells. To rejuvenate liver, embryonic liver cells and so on. We use lyophilized cells derived from a special race of mountain sheep known to get no cancer and strokes. The cell mixtures which suspended in an aqueous maintaining all their relevant information are injected intramuscular into the bottom of the patient, usually divided into 8-12 injections between 5and 10 ml-solution.

The preparation of the cells are done by our chief medical officer in a ultra modern lab after GMP-conditions. According to German law all cell preparations have to be done for each patient separately.

The combination of the cells will be designed by the applying physician according to the medical history, acute health problems and wishes of the patient. Therefore the first step of our procedure is to send interested patients’ medical records to our Chief Medical Officer, they are then evaluated and the best treatment to move forward with is decided upon.

Before any injections are performed on a patient, they will undergo  medical tests including an HRV and ECG as well as a physical examination.

Patients must be aware that cell therapy is followed by 3 different phases of effects:

Immediate effect:

After injections, the soluble components of the cell suspension are immediately absorbed by the body, which can lead to a brief improvement of complaints and increased vitality, but also fatigue. In rare cases, mild temporary reactions can be observed, such as a slight raise of body temperature, or a mild local inflammation at the injection site. These immediate effects last for 1-2 days before a transition occurs to the latency phase.

Latency phase:

This is a period of “biological immune-compromised reaction” of approximately two weeks. This indicates the injected cells are integrating the patient’s body. By older people, the latency period can be longer. A few patients report that they feel tired and fatigued during this period. These patients represent a minority, as most patients have no complaints and experience the desired effect soon after treatment.

Regeneration phase:

Effects can be felt or seen while body systems and organs are revitalized, such as improvement in the general health and vitality of the patient, as well as a significant increase in physical and mental capacity. Impaired organ functions can improve or even normalize. The effect of the treatment can, depending on each patient, last between six months to some years. The treatment has a general regenerative and revitalizing effect on the whole organism and is not comparable to simple short-term stimulation.

Each patient will undergo a series of 8 to 12 injections, which will contain varieties of organ cells carefully selected by our Chief Medical Officer after the review of medical records. We take the approach of multiple organ cell injection because no disease affects only one organ.

From a general standpoint, the affected organs have a lower efficiency, this puts unwanted strain and stress on other organs as they try to make up for a damaged organ, in turn causing them to suffer negative effects over time if no rejuvenation takes place. Our approach ensures that the body returns to its full vitality and is part of our aim to provide the best possible recovery for our patients, with all organs being subject to new cells and a rejuvenation process of their own. Once the cells have reached their desired locations, they will diffuse into the organs cells and convey rejuvenating messages.

Throughout the procedure our main focus is on the patient, taking every step and precaution to ensure his or her safety and wellbeing. The treatments are completed to highest medical standards available, surpassing the already high standards and regulations the German government demands. There will always be a physician close by to answer any questions patients may have, helping them feel at ease during the entire procedure. The less stress the body experiences the better for the revitalization process, staff will make it as stress free an environment. This in turn gives the procedure the best chance of achieving its maximum potential and regenerative effects on the body.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions, we will be happy to answer and help in any way we can.

Fresh VS Dry Cell Therapy

Fresh Cells

Fresh Cells Preparation

There is no doubt about the importance of fresh cells as a historical precedent for the modern lyophilized solutions. Without it, Cell Therapy would have been very different. However, the physician has to be conscious that fresh cells may contain the seeds of serious infections. This does not mean that animals used in the production of cell preparations should be carefully selected to ensure good health; there is not a single method that can assure the absence of animal pathogens with absolute certainty. Therefore, the previous state of the infectious disease (the incubation period) represents a serious threat to the patient’s health. The animal, yet “healthy” can host germs that may be hazardous to humans. Here are some cases of zoonosis below:

  • Tuberculosis

  • Brucellosis Listeriosis

  • Rickettsiosis

  • Various Leptospirosis types

  • Toxoplasmosis

  • Salmonella-related infections (typhus and paratyphus)

  • Countless virulent diseases that may result in lethal encephalitis

It is no longer necessary to analyze the dangers of Fresh Cell Therapy after reading this long list. But Cell Therapy also poses other risks: it may cause allergic hypersensitivity reactions, at least for those with congenital susceptibility to allergies. What does this mean? Allergic reactions can cause serious illnesses that can lead to death, such as bronchial asthma, cardiovascular collapse, liver damage, skin inflammation and renal failure. Allergic encephalitis (brain inflammation) and allergic inflammation of the vocal cords, which both obstructs the airways are even more lethal.

Another disadvantage of the Fresh Cell Therapy method is the fact that fresh cells suffer self-dissolution after 15-20 minutes of autolysis. Not only does this reduce the therapeutic effect of fresh cell preparations, but they also contain biogenic amines (ptomaine’s), whose injection into the human body leads to poisoning.

Dry Cells

Lyophilised Cell Production

All of the problems listed above have been solved thanks to advances in medical technology. Lyophilisation is the high vacuum process (also known as freeze-drying), in which water is removed from the cell material. This preserves the cellular substances for a practically unlimited time. The substances can be stored in finished blisters, which can be used as long as they are suspended in an aqueous, injectable solution (e.g. glucose). Once suspended, the dry cells are ready to be used in treatments, as their fine structures were not destroyed during the lyophilisation process. Since the preparations are stored in blisters, this allows the physician to dose the patient according to the severity of the condition or the aging process. Currently there are about 30 different cell preparations that can be used specifically for each disease. The use of lyophilized cells has several advantages.

  • Sterility

  • Easy to use

  • Long expiration date

  • Allows proper dosage

  • Doesn’t cause allergic sensitivity in the whole organism

The ability to lyophilise the cells has allowed for a much easier transportation, ease of use of the cell suspension and longer expiry length. In fresh cell therapy the cells need to be kept in strict temperature ranges or denaturing of the proteins may occur, reducing the potential therapeutic value. A cell will undergo autolysis almost immediately after extraction from the donor animal. By drying the cells we prevent this autolysis from occurring, maintaining the therapeutic value of the cells.

By using the lyophilized cells, sterility of the cells can be almost guaranteed although we still screen all the cells for diseases before we inject them, allowing maximum safety. The animals we use at our labs are sheep, because they have a high predisposition to disease resistance and cancer resistance. The cells taken from the sheep, once lyophilized, have almost 100% of the proteins intact and are well tolerated by humans, causing allergic reactions to be almost nonexistent.  In the unlikely event of a reaction, it has been localized to the immediate site of injection. Mild allergic reactions only occur in patients with predisposition to allergies and only in the area of the intramuscular injection. In this case, an increase of body temperature  is even a desired response of the body tissue to the therapy. The involved therapists never observed any allergic reactions in other distant organs. Therefore, the tendency to having allergic reactions is no contraindication to dry cell therapy; it is just the way the body has of assimilating this technique. Cell preparations in Germany are monitored by the state to extremely strict standards and studies performed by clinics have showed that lyophilized cells have the same curative effects as fresh cells.

The combination of the cells will be designed by the applying physician according to the medical history, acute health problems and wishes of the patient.
